Death and taxes, blah, blah, blah. Since there are required "living-here fees," aka taxes, in the United States, ideally, we would like to have a say in where every penny of our tax dollars are spent. That, however, is nearly impossible to do if anything is to get accomplished. That's one of the reasons we don't live in a true democracy, where every vote actually counts. We live in a republic democracy, where you vote to elect a representative who will make certain decisions for you.

Most of the time, however, the elected politician isn't looking out for the best interest of their constituents, but rather for whatever lobby group is paying them the most money. But the fight is not over. You can, to some extent, still make your voice heard. So, we ask, what are the most important avenues on which you would like your tax money spent?

How important is digital infrastructure to you? Should the U.S. be responsible for helping further the advancement of technology, or is that best left for private entities?

What about war, which makes up the majority of the federal budget, both on and off the books? How about education? Do you know college tuition is now free for all Germans?



"All German universities will be free of charge when term starts next week after fees were abandoned in Lower Saxony, the last of seven states to charge," reported TheTimes.com.

Do you have student debt? Do you know how much your kids will need to pay off by the time they graduate? Do you find it interesting that Americans fly giant patriotic flags and talk about the "best country in the world," yet refuse to put education as a top priority? Will the "greatest country" still be that great, when in 30 years, uneducated (compared to the rest of the world) Americans are running this state?
